Tower Maintenance - May 15th

On Tuesday 05/15/2012 at approximately 9am the Delaware County 800 Repeater Site located across from Concord Fire will be Out Of Service  for approximately 2 hours for repair.

Expect reduced in building radio coverage in Concord and West part of Liberty Township.

If all goes according to plan, crews will go to the Genoa Township tower at approximately 1pm to replace an antenna.   The Genoa site will be out of service for approximately 1 – 2 hrs.

Expect reduced IN Building radio coverage in Harlem Township and Eastern Part of Genoa Township.

Notifications will be made prior to taking sites off line and when the sites are back on line.

Network Maintenance

All COIRS System Users: 

OARnet has notified us they will be doing upgrades to the network switches that support our system on Thursday  04/18 (TONIGHT) starting at 00:01 and lasting until 06:00. There will be temporary outages during these times that will cause the consoles to lose connection and the system to go into site trunking. The outages should last no more than 15 minutes at a time and may occur up to 5 times. Dispatchers will need to use back up radios/walkies during these outages. Field units will receive the "SITE TRUNKING" notice on their radios, but can continue to operate on their normal talk-groups. 

The number of outages needed to complete the upgrade are unknown and may not affect all circuits.

Circuit Maintenance - Huntley Road

XO Communications will be performing system upgrades tonight (Thursday 03/15) between 23:00 and 06:00 that may cause momentary interruptions of the circuit that serves the Huntley Road tower. Interruptions are not expected to affect users or consoles, although MOSCAD system alarms may be received.

T1 Connection Maintenance

XO Communications has notified us they will be doing upgrades on our T1 circuits that support the radio system starting on Monday 02/13 starting at 23:00 and lasting until Tuesday 02/14 at 06:00. There will be temporary outages during these times that will cause the consoles to lose connection and the system to go into site trunking. The outages should last no more than 5 minutes at a time. The number of outages needed to complete the upgrade are unknown and may not affect all circuits.

Site Trunking Event - Dub/Wor

The Dublin/Worthington side of the COIRS system went into site trunking just after midnight this morning for approximately 8 minutes. We discovered that OarNET, our connectivity provider to the master site in Delaware, was conducting another round of switch upgrades like they conducted back on September 16th. However, in this instance, they failed to notify us of the work so we could be prepared.

 

We have talked with OarNET and reinforced the importance of advanced notice for any work being performed on our circuit. They apologized and assured me they are taking steps to improve notifications.

 

Sorry for the inconvenience last night and we want to assure your staff and users that we are working with OarNET to ensure it doesn't not happen again.
